Kwaku Agyeman Manu, Minister of Health
The Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, has presented an ultra-modern X-Ray machine and two oxygen plants to the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital to aid quality health care delivery.
The head of administration of the hospital, Mr. Sarpong, was full of praise to the Minister, who is also the MP for Dormaa Central.
According to Mr. Sarpong, the hospital, prior to the MP’s presentation, used to spend a whopping GHS32,000.00 to GHS35,000.00 to purchase oxygen, but now the cost has substantially reduced to about half of the amount.
He said patients admitted and put on oxygen at the facility were paying an amount of GHS4.00 per hour, but now have to pay GHS2.00 for the same duration.
He further explained that one of the oxygen plants had been installed at the emergency unit (male and female wards) while the second one had been installed to serve the children’s ward.
Explaining how the machine works and the importance of its availability to the facility, he said “the plant generates gas from the air we breathe, and converts it to oxygen. This makes it cheaper as compared to the old cylinder oxygen. The only cost involved is electricity and maintenance.”
