A General Secretary hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Charles Onuawonto Bissue, has re-emphasised his commitment at doing everything possible to secure another victory for the party, if given the nod to lead as the General Secretary.

He said this after filing his nomination forms yesterday.  He underscored the need for the rank and file of the party to join him to realise his dream together, and further appealed to the delegates to vote massively for him to win.

Experience

Touting his vast experience in politics, Mr Bissue reiterated that he has strategies to help the NPP retain the power in the 2024 elections and beyond.

He believes the NPP has got to the level where it needs the new crops of the leadership at its national level to steer affairs of the party as well as propagate the campaign strategies of the party.

“When given the mandate I would pursue a vision that will enable the party to win the 2024 elections and beyond. I will serve as the next NPP General Secretary and lead the party as the new chief executive of the party to win the ensuing general election,” he said.

He added:  “Where we reached now as the political the party in Ghana, touted as the efficient political party, we need to manage the structures of the party effectively to help win the general elections in 2024”.

He said this doesn’t mean that all the ranks and files have not worked hard for the progress of the party, stressing that “everybody within the party is doing their best to build a proper structure for the party”.

He stated that he vying to contest for the general secretary position of the NPP to bring his vast experience on board to the national level to help fix the gap created in the party.

He said due to his vast experience in partisan politics he saw some gaps in the party in the Western Region and but he worked hard as the Western Regional Secretary of the party to fill the gaps which has ensured the attainment of the 100 percent increment of the seats in the region.

That his previous achievements, according to Mr. Bissue, had informed his decision to elevate himself to the national position since he realizes that there are also big gaps at the national level of the NPP, saying that “he thinks his vast political experience is needed to help fix the gap hence decision to contest the General Secretary position of the NPP.”

Appeal

In this regard, he called on the supporters, members, and delegates of the party to rally behind him to win the general position to move the party forward.

He noted that in the political history of this country if the NPP goes into the opposition, it creates many fears in Ghanaians because its rival political party, which is the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would come to destroy the economic progress of the country.

He pointed out that the government of the NPP has done a lot to improve the economic growth and living conditions of Ghanaians, adding that “the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic had affected what the party did, making some Ghanaians lose hope in the new leadership of the NPP”.

“It is possible those who voted are also human beings and that the way you talk to the person that would encourage him, her to have another confidence in you to give he/her votes to you in another election,” he noted.

He stressed the need for the NPP to strengthen its welfare system to ensure that those who sacrificed their lives also benefit from the party to improve their living conditions.

“I would ensure the welfare of the footsoldiers of the party if given the nod to lead as the General Secretary of the party,” he assured.
