The Chief Executive Officer of the Nations Builders Corps (NABCO), Dr Ibrahim Anyars, has launched the TamalePrenuership Fund to help businesses and entrepreneurs in the Tamale Central constituency.
The TamalePreneurship (TPS) Fund, according to Dr Anyars, is an initiative by his Foundation, the Repairer Foundation, to provide support for start-ups and businesses in the Tamale Central constituency. The Fund will enable new businesses to emerge and help create more jobs in the Tamale Business district.
Seed money
Launching the fund in Tamale on Saturday, Dr Anyars, who is also the NPP parliamentary candidate for Tamale Central, said the foundation is investing GHC200,000 as seed money for the fund.
The seed money is the first step in raising support from partners, individuals, corporate bodies, and organisations to the tune of GHC1million in few years.
Dr Anyars noted that the primary goal of the fund is to provide livelihood support, and help eradicate poverty in the Tamale Central constituency through the provision of loans to businessmen and women within the area.
He added that getting such a fund in the constituency was long overdue, considering it is an urban area with most of the constituents engaged in small to medium-scale businesses.
“This Fund will not come with interest and will support people from petty traders to big enterprises,” he said.
The NABCO boss disclosed that a portal would soon be launched to capture all businesses in the area where customers or clients anywhere in the world can conveniently contact or seek the services of enterprises on the portal.
He noted that beneficiaries of the fund would also be trained on how to sustain and expand their businesses to employ more people and improve their living standards.
Dr Anyars assured that the development of the area is his topmost priority, adding that the time has come for the people to elect an MP who has demonstrated enough capabilities and good-will of representing them in Parliament and to improve their well-being.
Private sector growth
The Chief Executive Officer of SIC Life Savings and Loans, Amma Dwumah, expressed optimism that the TPS Fund will stimulate private sector growth and provide the constituents a substitute to salaried employment.
The CEO of COTVET, Dr Fred Asamoah, encouraged the people to leverage the opportunities created to improve their entrepreneurial skills.
On his part, the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed, demonstrated his commitment by donating GHC50, 000 to the fund, and called on philanthropists and benevolent organisations to support the fund.
Mr Saeed also urged businesses and individuals, especially women within Tamale Central, to take advantage of the fund to grow their businesses.
Meanwhile, some NABCO beneficiaries have also donated GHC10,000 into the fund to support the project.
