Achiasehene, Daasebre Gyeni Kenten II, speaks at a durbar held in honour of President Akufo-Addo
A Deputy Minister of Health, Bernard Okoe-Boye, has reiterated the government’s commitment to improving the country’s health sector.
According to him, a healthy people reflects in a country’s productivity and, thus, the government will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that it guarantees the health of the people.
He said apart from the many interventions untaken in the sector, the government is also giving the needed attention to health infrastructure in the country.
Dr Oko-Boye was speaking over the weekend at Akyem Achiase when the President took his working visit in the Eastern Region to that part.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as part of the visit, cut sod for the construction of a new district hospital for the people in the area.
Dr Okoe-Boye disclosed that to address the infrastructure deficit in the health sector, the government has secured funding to implement a number of projects.
Clarification
The Deputy Minister debunked assertions that the government had abandoned health facilities that were inherited in 2017.
“There are some people misleading the good people of Ghana with false information. The truth is we are all excited that we are working with a man who is so poised to develop his country. And it’s very evident by the huge investment made in the continuation and operationalisation of the Wa Regional hospital, the continuation and commissioning of Tema Hospital and other investments made in the health sector,” he stated.
He asked the people to ignore the propaganda thrown out there that the government has abandoned projects initiated by previous government, describing such comments as false.
Appreciation
On his part, the Achiasehene, Daasebre Gyeni Kenten II, expressed appreciation to the government for the creation of Achiase District and the huge infrastructural investments made in the area.
He added that he and his people will never forget how the government came to their aid when they needed help.
He however appealed to the government to build more Senior High Schools in addition to the already existing ones in the district.
