The newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Pius Enam Hadzide, on Monday, upon assumption of office as substantive CEO, held his maiden management and general staff meeting at the conference room of the Authority.
Addressing the management team, Mr Hadzide commended the entire management, which had been led by Mr Owusu Ansah, DCEO for Operations & Programmes, and Mrs Akosua Manu, DCEO for Finance & Administration, for their sterling performance in steering the affairs of the Authority in the last eight months.
Expressing his gratitude to God and to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the opportunity to serve in the capacity as CEO, Mr Hadzide recounted his tenure as deputy Youth & Sports Minister, and said he is quite familiar with the youth terrain and is fully aware of the opportunities and challenges the youth are confronted with. He pledged to work diligently in the supreme interest of the youth.
NYA Act
Citing the NYA Act, 939 of 2016, Mr Hadzide made mention of the renewed zeal and enthusiasm in youth development space, which he attributed to the commitment of the President to seeing to ameliorating the challenges confronting the youth.
“We are motivated by the President’s understanding of youth issues and his enormous commitment to advance the cause of youth development in Ghana, and we can only continue to work dutifully to achieve his Excellency’s vision of a fully equipped and empowered youth to drive our nation forward,” Mr Hadzide said.
Making reference to the proverbial Oliver Twist fable, he asked for continued loyalty and dedication to the values of the Authority, saying it is of critical importance to rebrand and reposition the Authority to continue to touch the Ghanaian youth in a real and meaningful way, to make them fully appreciate the Authority’s relevance.
There was an open forum where management and staff made various submissions.
