The Rebecca Foundation has re-built and commissioned the Adetim D/A KG and Primary School in the Upper West Akim District of the Eastern Region after the project was abandoned for 29 years by previous governments.
The re-construction of the facility, which started in August, 2020, re-replaces the 29-year old half-completed one classroom block school, and now has a six-unit classroom block to accommodate Class 1-6 pupils, two classrooms for Kindergarten, a headmaster’s office and toilet facilities for both pupils and staff of the school.
Commissioning the facility on behalf of First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo, who is also Executive Director of the Rebecca Foundation, Richard Darko, press aide at the office of the First Lady, said the completion and commissioning of the facility followed an appeal by the chiefs and people of Adetim to the First Lady for assistance.
Support for gov’t
Mr Darko said the First Lady, through the Rebecca Foundation, is determined to assist the government in its quest to provide quality education to all. He said the Foundation, since its establishment in 2017, had constructed several infrastructure, including schools and libraries, across the country in that regard.
On behalf of Mrs Akufo-Addo, he urged the chiefs and leaders in the community to patronise the educational facilities in their community by ensuring that their wards go to school, and pay frequent visits to the library.
Expressing his gratitude to Mrs Akufo-Addo for her gesture, the DCE of Upper West Akim, Eugene Sackey, said though the NPP government had been working hard to provide education infrastructure in the district.
