Databank has been crowned the Securities Company of the Year 2020 at this year’s Ghana Business Awards, held on Friday at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra.
The award scheme was organised by Globe Productions, lead organiser of the annual Ghana Business Awards.
Some 213 companies and individuals were shortlisted for this year’s awards.
GNPC Foundation was also named the Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility of the Year.
The award
About 307 companies and individuals submitted nominations to be considered for the awards, held on the theme, “Impact of COVID-19 on Business Sustainability: A Review of Big Businesses, SMEs and Start-Ups”.
The awards, third in the series, was organised in partnership with the Ministry of Business Development, Graphic Business, Nobel International Business School (NiBS), Media General and the Institute of Directors.
The awards, which seek to promote business excellence, nationally and internationally, as well as provide an unparalleled opportunity for networking among industry players, was jointly chaired by the Peace Council Chairman, Rev Prof Emmanuel Asante, and the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Nuhu Sharubutu (Dr).
The occasion was also used to recognize and reward excellence across all sectors of industry in Ghana and provide the platform for individuals and companies that play significant roles in the growth and development of the business sector. It was also meant to promote open dialogue between relevant stakeholders in the public and private sectors on adopting the right strategies to stimulate post-COVID-19 economic recovery in Ghana to ensure a future of hope and shared prosperity for all Ghanaians.
Other Winners
Media General Group, the parent company of MG TV, made up of TV3 and Onua TV, MG Radio, made up of 3FM, Onua FM, Connect FM and Akoma FM, MG Digital, Adesa Productions Limited and 3 Foundation, won the Media Organisation of the Year.
Others include Product of the Year, Indomie; Excellence in Health Safety and Quality of the Year, AngloGold Ashanti (AGA); Herbal Company of the Year 2020, Medi Moses Prostate; Excellence in Innovation and Technology, Ecobank Limited; Fashion and Lifestyle Company of the Year, Woodin; SME of the Year 2020, Kwick Credit and Investment Limited; and Local Content Award of the Year 2020, Kosmos Energy and Emerging Brand of the Year, BelaAqua.
