Mr Odeneho Kwaku Appiah
Mr Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, NPP’s current Afigya Kwabere South constituency chairman and Ashanti Regional chairman hopeful, has noted that reconciliation, inclusiveness and consultation are the major tools to aid the governing party to break the eight-year governance cycle.
Speaking in interview with the Daily Statesman over the weekend, he said the Ashanti regional branch of the party has the numbers to turn the fortunes around for the party to retain power in the 2024 elections.
He therefore urged all members to strategically share ideas towards the development agenda of the NPP.
“Democracy is about numbers, which involves people. Breaking the 8 jinx has not happened in our country before, and it is the ambition of our noble party to make it happen because Ghana needs consistency in development.
“I know what inclusiveness can do, and I’m all out for it. Those who have withdrawn from the party due to one reason or the other and past executives must come on board. Let’s stay united,” Mr Kwaku Appiah stated.
The Ashanti regional chairman hopeful acknowledged that the current regional chairman, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), had done the best he could, but a new season requires a new face and strategy to meet new tasks.
“Chairman Wontumi, as every leader, has a tenure of office, and I believe that Mr. Antwi Boasiako has served his term, and therefore a new face must arm up with new strategies to keep the NPP in power,” he said.
He further stated that people are thinking politics, but he is thinking power.
“Wontumi has served his term and the party deserves another. Just like David in the Holy Bible, he did a lot, but couldn’t build a temple for God, and Solomon came and built to the glory of God. And that is why the late J. J Rawlings exited and former President J. A Kufuor came in as the game changer,” he explained.
He indicated that times had changed, and the region must mean serious business, noting “This is not what the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman Donkor Fodjour, Chairman F. F Antoh and Chairman Amankwaah left for us; we must write the wrongs to pave way for us to break the eight-year governance cycle.”
