Classera, a global edutech learning management platform focused on emerging markets, in partnership with Ghana TVET Service, through Hp – Classeasy Learning Management System have launched an initiative called “Learning Never Stops” project.
The initiative aims to empower educators, students and administrators with tools to enhance nationwide teaching and learning.
Speaking during the launch at the TVET Headquarters in Accra yesterday, the Director-General of the Ghana TVET Service, Madam Mawusi Nudekor Awity, said the project aims to promote Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.
Teaching and learning
She said Classera provides innovative tools to enhance teaching and learning outcomes, empowering educators, students and administrators.
Madam Awity revealed that the project would set up a free Proof of Concept (PoC) with 10 TVET centres for one academic year to demonstrate the effectiveness of these solutions and the transformative potential of technology in education. Following a successful pilot, she indicated, the project would be scaled nationwide in the next academic session.
“We are excited about the potential of the ‘Learning Never Stops’ Project to revolutionize TVET in Ghana. By providing our educators with the necessary support and our students with the best possible learning experiences, we are laying the foundation for a brighter future,” she stressed.
Commitment
Madam Awity reaffirmed the Ghana TVET Service’s commitment to managing, overseeing and implementing national policies and programmes for pre-tertiary technical and vocational education in both public and private institutions.
She said the Service was committed to making TVET a cornerstone of Ghana’s education system by covering formal, non-formal and informal levels of TVET delivery.
She stressed that the project embodies her outfit’s belief that learning should never stop, regardless of the challenges, adding, “Together, let us transform Ghana through TVET.”
Significance
Dr. Lanre Phillips, Channel Manager for Africa at Classera, emphasised Classera’s commitment to supporting Ghana TVET Service, highlighting its significance as a leading institution in Africa.
He said that through a Proof of Concept involving 10 TVET centres initially, the project aims to expand to numerous centres nationwide in the coming years.
Touching on the project’s success metrics, Dr. Phillips pointed to their experience launching similar initiatives globally, and expressed confidence in Ghana TVET Service becoming a benchmark for TVET services across Africa.
He outlined a strategic one-year plan that involves ongoing discussions with development partners such as UNICEF, UNESCO, the MasterCard Foundation and the World Bank, with initial meetings already underway.
Dr. Phillips believes the project would enhance access to technical and vocational education in Ghana, particularly benefiting students who may have limited access to traditional educational resources.
He noted that by leveraging Classera’s learning management platform, the project can improve the quality of education delivery, ensuring that students receive up-to-date content and resources aligned with global standards.
Skills
He emphasised that the project would foster skill development crucial for employment in various sectors, aligning education more closely with industry needs and promoting practical learning experiences.
Dr. Phillips stressed that it would promote equity by reaching underserved communities and individuals, thereby reducing educational disparities across the country.
According to him, the “Learning Never Stops” project represents a pivotal initiative in Ghana’s educational landscape, combining technical and vocational education with innovative technology solutions to empower learners and educators alike.
He stressed that it sets a precedent for future collaborations seeking to bridge educational gaps, and promote inclusive, quality education worldwide.
